@billpeduto And I know it was rescinded September. Mixed messages about whether it would last into 2012.

Story: Green Drinks is a worldwide phenomenon based upon the idea that communication amongst leaders with a green agenda is best facilitated with an adult beverage or two. With the Pittsburgh region's leadership in energy and environmental issues, I began looking for forums to learn more about the local green business community and came across the Pittsburgh chapter of Green Drinks. In the process, I discovered that the world organization encourages local communities to develop their own branding.
I contacted the founder of Pittsburgh Green Drinks to discuss the opportunity for greater involvement and offered, pro bono, my logo design services. She accepted, providing little direction. Having free reign on this project was exciting.
Goal: Create an identity package that incorporated Pittsburgh's distinctive geographical features without relying on tired conventions that are characteristic of many local logo designs:
Solution: The basis of the logo is the blue outline of the martini glass, which also represents the confluence of the three rivers that make up Pittsburgh's golden triangle. The contents of the glass are green, giving a nod to both the potential contents of the glass (say, a green martini) and Point State Park. Finally, the "olive" element in the middle of the glass also serves as alternate imagery, representing the fountain at the point. The final base line of the glass helps bring the entire design together.
